According to the study, 41 adults were kept under observation. The subjects were suffering from  mild to moderate facial inflammatory acne. After 12 weeks what they concluded was, subjects in PDL group reduced their acne severity from 3.8 to 1.9, whereas, change in placebo was from 3.6 to 3.5. The treatment was effective and well tolerated. Beginning of rapid improvements was seen after 4 weeks of treatment. Also, the treatment had no adverse effects on subjects.

Pulsed-dye lasers emit visible light that is mainly absorbed by the blood cells, which eventually helps to treat acne vulgaris and its scars. The treatment is delivered via very thin needles that enter the skin and deliver the pulsed laser beam deep into the skin. This is a most effective way to heat and disable the sebaceous glands in the skin, hence decreasing oil production and the resultant pimples.
