Skincare is equally important in the winter season because our skin tends to behave differently and women of all ages-especially women at a mature age should follow some specific steps to promote skin health and prevent any unwanted conditions such as dryness and wrinkles.

Anti Aging Skin Care in WintersIf you are a mature woman and curious to know how to take care of your skin this time of the year then read on…

STEP 1: Invest in a high quality moisturizer with antioxidant benefits and a humidifier.
A lot of women think that when the weather is cold, their skin doesn’t need to be moisturized but this wrong. Moisturizing your skin properly during the winter months is vital because during this time, your skin is prone to dryness and if it’s not moisturized properly you might look duller and much older than your really are.. Thus, investing in a good quality moisturizer  and a humidifier  which prevents atmospheric dryness is a must for healthy looking skin. Look for moisturizers with natural antioxidants such as vitamin C from fruits AHAS and conenzymes which help moisturize and prevent dryness and have added anti-aging benefits at the same time.

STEP 2: Exfoliate. Our skin tends to be easily cracked and often forms uneven dry patches during the winter months. While moisturizing is very important to prevent this, if you have already some dry and cracked skin in certain areas of your face, you need to exfoliate to remove them. It is important not to scrub your skin too vigorously, because you may develop a rush and possibly worsen your condition.

STEP 3: Use only gentle formulas. Avoid doing abrasive treatments such as chemical peels and products with harsh chemicals and high alcohol content. Your skin is more sensitive to environmental conditions during winter and using heavy chemically loaded formulas can often cause skin sensitivities and in rare cases permanent damage. It is best to use only natural and gentle formulas that don’t aggravate skin especially if your skin tends to be on the sensitive side.

STEP 4: Don’t forget your sunscreen. Sunscreen is not only for summer months- UVA and UVB rays can penetrate skin even in the winter months and cause wrinkles and skin damage. Thus, wearing a sunscreen of at least 15 SPF is needed during winter season to prevent any skin aging and damage.
